An afternoon job, not a bodyshop job

Typical install is 50–80 minutes for window trim on a normal car. No heat gun, no permanent modification, and the vinyl goes onto the chrome rather than your paint.

You get more than one goAir-release adhesive lets you lift a section and lay it again while you work. It does not grab permanently the second it touches.

The cutting is the only real skillA sharp blade at a shallow angle works. Knifeless tape removes the blade entirely if you would rather not risk it.

It comes off againExterior-grade automotive vinyl, designed to be removed cleanly and leave the trim underneath as it was.

Three ways to do it

DIY is the cheapest route, not the compromise

All three use the same idea — cover the chrome rather than paint or replace it. The difference is how much of the work is done for you before it arrives.

Straight answers

How much vinyl do I actually need?
For window surrounds on a typical sedan most people use somewhere around 5–10 metres of narrow tape. If you would rather not work that out, the Blackout Starter Bundle is sized for exactly that job, and the Complete Car Trim Bundle covers a full car including grille, handles and mirror caps. Covering something unusual? Message us and we will help you size it.
Gloss or matte — which should I pick?
Gloss black is the closer match to factory blackout packages like Shadowline, Black Optics and Night Package, and it is what most people picture when they say chrome delete. Matte is flatter and more understated, and it hides fingerprints better. Both use the same adhesive and both are exterior grade — it is purely a look preference.
Will it damage my paint?
The vinyl goes onto the chrome trim rather than onto the painted panel, and it uses automotive-grade adhesive designed to be removable. The one thing to be careful with is cutting: keep the blade at a shallow angle, or use knifeless tape so no blade goes near the car at all.
What if I mess up a piece?
Cut a fresh length — that is the advantage of buying by the roll or in a bundle rather than a precut kit. Air-release channels also let you lift and re-lay a section while you are working, so a piece that goes on crooked is not wasted.
Why would I buy this instead of a precut kit?
Three reasons: it costs a lot less, it fits any vehicle including ones we have not cut a kit for, and you can use the leftovers on grille slats, badges, mirror caps or door handles. A precut kit buys you time and removes the cutting — if that is worth more to you than the price difference, check whether we cut one for your car.
Do I need the tool kit?
A squeegee makes a real difference and a sharp blade is essential if you are trimming. The bundles include the tools; if you are buying tape by the roll and own neither, add the ChroMorpher Professional Vinyl Application Tool Kit ($21.99).
How long does it last?
The film is weatherproof, UV-resistant and scratch-resistant exterior-grade vinyl. Give it 24–48 hours before the first wash so the adhesive fully sets, and avoid aiming a pressure washer straight at the edges.
Fast delivery on most orders

Most US orders arrive in about 3–5 days. Items prepared or cut for your vehicle typically take 5–7 business days.

Free shipping and tracking on every order. Rare longer lead times apply to Stainless Steel and ABS moldings, not to vinyl or precut kits.
