It is the question we get most, so here is the straight version.
Air-release adhesive lets you lift a section and lay it again while you are working. It does not grab permanently the second it touches.
Vinyl goes onto the chrome trim; moldings go over the existing trim. Neither is applied to the painted panel.
The part people worry about is cutting. On a precut kit there is nothing to cut — the shapes arrive finished.

Clean the trim, then wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely.
Each piece is already cut for your vehicle. Hold it against the trim first and confirm which side and which way round it goes.
Peel the backing, set one edge, and let the rest fall into place. Air-release channels mean you can lift and reposition before it commits.
Even pressure with the squeegee, working outwards so air escapes at the edges instead of getting trapped in the middle.
Tuck and press every edge firmly. Edges are where a rushed install shows first, so give them a second pass.
No washing for a day or two while the adhesive fully sets. That is the whole job done.
Isopropyl alcohol on the trim, in the shade rather than direct sun.
Cut a strip slightly longer than the section you are covering. This is the step a precut kit does for you.
Start at one end and keep the edge parallel to the trim as you go. Lift and re-lay if it wanders — the adhesive allows it.
Even pressure from the centre outwards with the squeegee.
A sharp blade at a shallow angle, or knifeless tape if you would rather not put a blade near the paint.
Press every edge firmly, then leave it 24–48 hours before the first wash.
Isopropyl alcohol over the chrome you are covering, then let it dry fully.
Each cover is pre-formed for your vehicle. Offer it up before peeling anything so you know exactly where it sits.
Set the alignment before you commit — the automotive tape grips hard once pressed.
Firm, even pressure end to end, then one more pass checking every edge has taken.
Some moldings sit behind the lower lip of the trim — a plastic trim tool helps ease them into place. Never use a metal tool against paint.

Knifeless tape lays a filament under the vinyl. You apply the film over it, pull the filament through, and it cuts the vinyl from underneath — so a blade never touches your trim or paint. Precut kits arrive already cut, so this only matters if you are trimming a roll yourself.

A small number of Stainless Steel and ABS molding configurations are not held in stock and need additional production or sourcing. Vinyl and precut kits are not affected.
